crisis_in_congo.jpg

The Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is embroiled in a burgeoning conflict, which has already killed millions and devastated countless lives through disease, sexual violence and poverty in the last decade. Today, over one million people remain displaced by this conflict.

World Vision is assessing the relief needs of tens of thousands of people displaced by the most recent outbreak of fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and has begun distributing some emergency supplies.

Purchase A Meal For 70 Cambodian Children
WorldVision_meal_for_seventy.jpg

At our drop-in centre in Battambang, working children are safe from harm and can just enjoy being kids for a while. The World Vision drop-in centre is open 5 days a week. This little haven is a place where children can sit down for snack or a meal, get a medical check-up, talk to counsellors who care, sit quietly in the library, or join in with games and sport activities. The project education team also carries out assessments of all registered children and works with the district education authorities to find places in local schools, or to provide vocational training in skills such as tailoring, motor repairs, weaving, and hairdressing.

Kiva_Laura_Isabel.jpg

Hi, my name is Laura Isabel Huiza. I've had this business for the past 3 years. I'm a hard-worker. My first priority is my family. I have all the energy to better myself and to obtain better things in life. My 3 children depend on me financially. I have my husband's help to pay all the family's expenses. Since it's getting close to Christmas, I would like to stock up my business to better serve my clients. This year I would like to have a variety of products and be able to expand my business.

Kiva_Rony_Ranfieri_Jewelry.jpg

Hello. My name is Rony Ordoñez. I am married. My work primarily consists of selling jewelry. I own a business located downtown. I have been in this business for many years after getting a start as a child when my parents owned this jewelry store. Now that I own the store, I need to invest some capital in order to help it succeed. I have a good client base. This business is my only source of income for covering my household expenses and for supporting my wife and son.
